Brown Missionary Baptist Church is home to more than 10,000 church members. Based a few miles outside of Memphis, the church serves a diverse base from nearby communities but wanted to reach further while also increasing financial contributions to support expansion.

The church has counted on KQ to rebrand and establish itself as a community leader in the Memphis and Mid-South area. Whether highlighting church history through a beautifully designed timeline mural or implementing a social media plan geared toward engaging members, creative strategies have been the bedrock of success.

KQ’s solid brand-development, communications expertise and social media marketing know-how resulted in 7% increase in membership, 6% increase in giving, and social media posts that average 25K views.

Brown Baptist Church needed to update it’s logo. They were running into issues of producing a consistent look across different mediums and sizes. While exploring their logo mark, we uncovered a need to not only refresh their logo, but establish a branding system that spoke to their congregation.


Research lead our team to start with the crest and strip it down to the symbols that were important and familiar to its followers. We paired this crest with a bold and modern typeface that leaves no question as to who they were. The simple blue color palette was kept in place and accented with expanded life giving colors to brighten the branding system. The result has retained equity and also made the brand clearer and more vibrant.
