Director of Digital Marketing & AI

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Digital Marketing & AI leads the development, execution, and optimization of integrated digital marketing campaigns that support client and agency objectives. This role owns the strategic planning, implementation, and measurement of digital touchpoints across email, web, paid media, SEO/SEM/Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), content strategy, and marketing automation.

In partnership with the PR and Creative teams, the Director ensures all digital initiatives align with brand messaging, target audiences, and measurable outcomes — driving growth, engagement, and conversion.

This individual is a hands-on digital strategist with a deep understanding of audience behavior, campaign performance, and emerging technologies. They bring a test-and-learn mindset, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and serve as the agency’s primary thought leader in developing and governing scalable, ethical AI-driven digital infrastructure. The Director of Digital Marketing & AI manages one direct report — a Digital Content Strategist — and reports to the Vice President of Digital Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Digital Strategy & Campaign Leadership

  • Develop and implement performance-driven digital marketing strategies for client campaigns across paid, owned, and earned channels
  • Partner with PR and Creative to ensure alignment of messaging, visuals, and campaign cadence
  • Translate audience insights into actionable digital tactics, including SEO/Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), SEM, and targeted email automation

Web, SEO/GEO, & Funnel Optimization

  • Oversee the structure, content, and conversion paths of client web platforms and landing pages
  • Lead optimization of digital user experiences across the customer journey, from awareness to conversion
  • Drive strategies for SEO/GEO performance, accessibility, and mobile-first content development

AI-Enabled Innovation & Team Enablement

  • Evaluate, test, and implement AI tools that enhance campaign development, audience segmentation, A/B testing, reporting, and content personalization
  • Serve as the agency’s internal champion for AI literacy, innovation, and implementation — leading ongoing training efforts and supporting team-wide adoption of AI tools and workflows
  • Lead structured AI training sessions and resource development to build organizational fluency across the digital and integrated teams
  • Partner with leadership to pilot new MarTech and AI tools for internal workflow automation and campaign enhancement

Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage and develop the Content Specialist, providing direction, feedback, and growth opportunities aligned with department and client priorities
  • Model a culture of accountability, creative excellence, and continuous learning within the digital team

Collaboration & Integration

  • Work cross-functionally with Directors of PR, Research, and Creative Services to support integrated campaign execution
  • Translate brand strategy and research insights into digital campaign architecture and audience targeting

Data, Analytics & Reporting

  • Own dashboards and reporting for digital performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage KPIs such as CTR, engagement rates, cost-per-acquisition, web traffic/conversions, email open rates, and ROI

Vendor & Partner Oversight

  • Manage relationships with web developers, SEO/SEM/GEO vendors, media buyers, and platform partners (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta, HubSpot, etc.)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field with a minimum of 5–7 years of experience in digital marketing, social media management, or content strategy
  • Proven ability to develop and execute multi-channel digital campaigns that drive measurable impact
  • Expertise in paid media strategy, performance tracking, and audience analytics
  • Strong project management, organizational, strategic planning, and analytical skills
  • Experience leading video-first content initiatives and short-form video platforms (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts)
  • Proficiency in social media management tools (Hootsuite, Brandwatch, etc.), Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Google Ads, and LinkedIn Ads
  • Deep expertise in deploying and managing generative AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics platforms for enterprise marketing solutions
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating AI training or building AI adoption frameworks within a team or organizational setting
  • Familiarity with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies and how AI-generated search results are reshaping digital discoverability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Ability to work proactively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
